This electronic format, however, really gives you just a glimpse of West Bend and our products and services. There is so much more we have to offer. We are fortunate that West Bend is a mutual company and, as such, we can plan long term because we don’t have to worry quarter by quarter how analysts rate our performance. This manifests in our recognition throughout the past 11 years as one of Ward’s Top 50 insurance companies. The Ward Group is a well respected benchmarking company that reviews all of the property/casualty companies in the country and West Bend always ranks in the top 50 based on performance and operational excellence. In addition, West Bend has been ranked A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best for 34 years, which indicates long-term financial stability.
Our company recently celebrated several significant milestones. We surpassed $1.5 billion in assets, celebrated our 113th anniversary and maintained our A+ rating by A.M. Best for the 34th consecutive year. Of the 3,343 property/casualty insurance companies in the United States, West Bend is one of only four companies that can boast all three accomplishments. This fact is truly a testament to our company’s longevity, stability and our ability to adapt in an ever-changing business environment.
The enthusiasm and hard work of our associates represents the core of our success, and we are fortunate to enjoy a work environment in which our associates can foster their successes. We are located on 160 acres of natural prairie and woodlands and are in the process of completing an addition that will more than double our size. The addition will allow us the opportunity to expand our continuing education programs, improve our associates’ work environment, and provide a modern expanded fitness center, full service cafeteria, convenience store, and other services such as dry cleaning, film development, and banking facilities. With all of this and more, it is no wonder our associates are empowered to improve themselves and our company.
Continuing education and personal development opportunities provide all associates with the knowledge to make well-informed day-to-day decisions in their jobs, as well long-term decisions about their careers. In addition, our Legendary Service program, Got Gas incentive and community involvement opportunities, just to name a few, have provided our associates with the means to make their career more fulfilling. Furthermore, we have been recognized as a benefits program leader and were honored as a Principle 10 Best company, as well as recently named a Top Milwaukee Workplace.
It is not surprising that West Bend benefits from a committed workforce, many of whom have dedicated 15, 25, even 30 years of their career here.
